Using MixW in Russian RTTY WW contest |
This article is a guide to configuring MixW2 for Russian RTTY WW contest. It also gives some information that may help an operator understand the opportunities of using MixW2 in contest mode.
First, set up the contest mode.

Sample macro file for Russian RTTY WW contest (rusrttyww.mc) it here.
RUSSIAN.DOM file contains list of Russian oblasts to grab automatically:
------------- start of file -------------
Ab = AB
Ad = AD
Al = AL
.....
(102 lines with oblast definitions)
------------- end of file -------------
Now both received serial number and a grabbed domain are put to ExchRcv field of the log file.
DOM files use a simple data format compatible with N6TR software:
Each line consists of the left part, equal sign, and the right part. Lines without equal sign are ignored as comments.
Left part is a domain name,
Right part is a list of words to grab.
Samples:
Ab = AB
Cd = EF, GH
Ij = JKL, MNO, PQ, R
Fkeys are labeled as follows:
The following picture shows macro texts:
Gray keys (Ins, +,-,*,/) are mapped to Ctrl-Shift-F8...Ctrl-Shift-F12 to make editing easier.
QSO sequence.
Suppose UT2UZ calls CQ, and UU9JDR answers.
UT2UZ presses F1 (AutoCQ):
CQ TEST de UT2UZ UT2UZ UT2UZ CQ
UU9JDR answers with Gray * key:
UT2UZ de UU9JDR
UT2UZ presses Ins:
UU9JDR TU 599 16 16
UU9JDR presses Gray - key:
QSL 599 16 16
UT2UZ presses Gray +:
QSL TU
de UT2UZ CQ
Now UU9JDR is satisfied, and so is UT2UZ ...
The results.
If I used Gray / key instead of F1 to start Auto CQ, I would be able to operate using five gray keys only. AutoCQ, Ins and Gray + are convenient for CQ callers, Gray * and Gray - work for answering operators. Of course, the other Fkeys help, too.
Notice that these macros also do several important things:
